DCG and its staff feel very strongly about giving back to the community and those in need around the world. Here are a just a few of the organizations we support:
|Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.
|Kiva’s mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. The people you see on Kiva’s site are real individuals in need of funding – not marketing material. When you browse entrepreneurs’ profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to someone else in need.
|Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen has been a symbol of hope and compassion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan since 1982. Anyone who comes to our door is welcome – without question or qualification. Since the Soup Kitchen first began in October 1982, it has served over 6.5 million meals.
